Designing for the Season

We always emphasize this and it's definitely an important element of our design aesthetic, but we can't say it enough - take your season into consideration when designing your wedding (your winter wonderland is going to look ridiculous in August). This is especially true when designing for outdoor ceremonies and/or reception. Consider your surroundings/venue before making any final decisions. Think not only about available flowers/greens, but also about the colors of the season.

Early spring has lots of crisp greens, hints of lavenders and purples, and blooming vines - we took these elements and included them as part of the wedding arch for an outdoor early April wedding. The arch looked like it was part of the garden and provided an organic backdrop to both the ceremony and the sweetheart table.

Celebrity Designs for the Everyday

A few weeks back, we picked up the US Weekly, because Lauren Conrad's wedding was on the cover. As we sifted through the pages of her lovely wedding, we came across this beautiful arch designed by Gilly Flowers and Events. This arch reminded us of the ceremony arch we designed last year at the St. Regis DC (our photos were never released, so this is not a post about a copyright and we are no implying anything of that nature). In a weird way, it made us really ecstatic to see that we're ahead of trend, creating a new slogan around the office: You don't need to be a celebrity to get celebrity-level design with DBI :)

Head on over to Lauren Conrad's website to see more from her dreamy wedding.
