Anniversary Shoot Bouquet

This sweet bouquet was for an anniversary shoot and we felt so honored to be a part of it. Golden yellows, dusty peachy pinks, and sage makes for one romantic color palette. Photos by Jodi Miller

Becky&TR Get Married

We spent last weekend celebrating Becky&TR's Xmas-themed wedding at The Torpedo Factory. We couldn't have picked a better wedding to close out the 2014 season. Between the beautiful DIY details, DBI details, and officially our favorite wedding band, the day was a huge success. We wish this amazing couple years and years of love, laughter, and happiness. And while we wait for the professional photos to drop, here are a few cell phone shots:

A Unique Bridal Bouquet featuring Antlers, Natural Cotton and Billy Balls

To continue with unique wedding elements, we bring you J+B's elopement. The bride had amazing ideas for her bouquet and I just feel honored to have been able to be a part of it. The final product included deer antlers, natural cotton, ranunculus, billy balls, and eucalyptus. I can't get enough of the all the gorgeousness captured by Zac Wolf Photography...and um...how stunning is the bride??

Memorial Day Pinks

This past Memorial Day, we had the absolute pleasure of working with T+R on their Sunset Crest Manor wedding, full of tradition. While we assisted with both logistics and flowers, my ultimate favorite part was that we were right in the middle of peony season. The bride had an amazing vision, mixing metallics and bringing in different shades of pink. Her mother even assisted with painting the bottles (pictured below) in gold (and they did an amazing job, if I do say so myself...I might need to outsource...not a single paint drip on any of the bottles!). Check out the details captured by Egomedia Photography:

NYC Flower Expo 2013 - Ranunculus

Last week I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to attend the NYC Flower Expo. Unlike the Flower Shows, this is not about floral installations. This is all about what different farms are producing and new strands that are hitting the market. I got the chance to chat with most of these suppliers as well as check out their main products and I think I might have fallen in love with a few new flowers. I snapped pictures to a) share with all of you and b) to provide my wholesalers with photographic evidence that these flowers are in fact available and I'm not making anything crazy up :)

With so many beautiful items I decided to break these posts up into four days: ranunculus today, roses tomorrow, my favorite booth (it deserves it's own post) on Thursday, and misc arrangements on Friday. Today we're checking out these gorgeous ranunculus - what's your favorite? Because I can't choose....

And oh yea - we are calling ranunculus the new IT wedding flower (you heard it first at Studio DBI!). Peonies and garden roses have spotlighted the wedding trend for quiet sometime but these little ruffly suckers are quickly becoming supreme.

Spring Blooms in Antique Containers

Yesterday I did a mini shoot for a post that will be published next week on DC Ladies. The whole post is about a new trend in wedding design...I won't give away all the secrets but here's a peek at what you can expect to see next week on their website:

Burgundy Bunches

On Friday we had an event for a record label at the Washington Club. Interesting venue for a record label party...but we'll take it! The client requested pillar candles and burgundy flowers so we used deep red ranunculus and burgundy spray arrangements intermixed with pillar candles. Below is one of the arrangements we made:.

The colors of Summer

Throughout the year Pantone, Inc. surveys New York Fashion week and comes up with a list of color trends they say we'll in the upcoming seasons' fashions.

Today we wanted to share what they brought the world for this Spring/Summer. It's a guarantee we'll be seeing these colors everywhere throughout the summer, from fashion to home decor, and even event design!

Overall, they're bright, but still soft. Because many of these colors are floral-inspired, they'd be lovely for inspiring your floral design.

Here's some examples of flowers we love in this season's colors!
