As we inch closer and closer to Xmas all we can think about is baking, eating, more eating, and snuggling up in front of the fireplace drinking hot cocoa. So it's only appropriate that today we share the Tins available for rent through our Vintage Rentals. You can use these in a variety of ways - flower containers? Dessert Bar display? The possibilities are endless.

DIY Tuesday: Vintage Book Page Tree Topper

This week we've got another simple holiday DIY project for you. If you're looking to add a little vintage flair to your holiday decor, this tree topper is perfect!
Materials Needed:
-Several vintage book pages
-Three different patterned scrapbook papers
-Holiday scrapbooking embellishment
-Scissors
-Glue Stick
-Hot Glue
-A small piece of wide ribbon, about 6 inches long
How-to:
1) Using the book pages, follow the steps from our previous tutorial on how to make accordion paper decorations (each section should be made with half a sheet of book page).
2) After completing the book page accordion circle, use a small drop of hot glue to attach it to a slightly larger circle you've cut from one of the papers.
3) Repeat this step, attaching this circle to a slightly larger circle cut from the second paper type. Cut small triangles out of the entire edge to create a "sawtooth look."
4) Attach a final circle to the last one, cut from the third paper type.
5) With hot glue, glue a small ribbon loop to the back for placing the topper on the tree. Just make sure it's large enough to slide over your top tree branch.
6) Finish off the topper with a scrapbooking embellishment, placed in the center of the book page accordion circle.

DIY Tuesday: Upcycling Burlap
Burlap seems to be everywhere lately in rustic and vintage wedding design. But today we've got a collection of ideas for the crafters out there. Here's how to incorporate the burlap look into your DIY home decor and fashion.
Though unprinted burlap can be purchased by the yard, one of the best ways to create the burlap look is by using old burlap coffee or potato sacks. They're fairly inexpensive and available from many online sources (we recommend checking out eBay or this online fabric retailer) and the colorful printed text and patterns really add to their character and charm.

DIY Tuesday: Hanging Accordion Paper Decorations

You've probably seen these accordion paper decorations all over the place lately. They've become quite popular for wedding and party decor and are a fun, simple DIY project for any event.
With the help of neighbors and friends, we made ton of them for my whimsical, vintage wedding in February, as pictured above. So today, we're teaching you how to make them!
Supplies Needed:
-4 Scrapbook Paper squares
-A piece of thin cardboard cut to 1" wide
-Bone Folder (used to score and fold paper; available at craft stores)
-Scissors
-Glue Stick
-String
Step 1:
Cut scrapbook paper into four 6 x 6" squares. We used four different papers, but you could make all four squares from the same paper.

Step 2:
Align the piece of cardboard with the left edge of one square that has been turned over so the back side is showing. Score the paper against the right edge of the cardboard with the bone folder. Fold the paper over the cardboard on the line you just created. Then do a final smooth down of the line with the bone folder.

Step 3:
Repeat this step for the whole sheet of paper. Then, repeat for each of the remaining three squares.

Step 4:
Fold each "accordioned" square in half. Go over this fold with the bone folder, If the open (not folded) edge doesn't match up completely, trim the edge so it's even. You'll now have four completely folded squares.

Step 5:
Each square will look like a V-shape. Glue the two inner sections of the "V" together. This will create a fan-shape. Repeat with the remaining three.

Step 6:
Glue the right edge of one fan to the left edge of another. This will create a half-circle. Repeat with the other two. Glue the two half-circles together. When compressed, this will look like four layered folds. When opened, it will look like a full circle with two edges that still need to be glued together. Glue these edges together. Add a string to the back with glue or tape and your hanging decoration is complete!

Wedding Wednesday: Americana Inspiration
Since Fourth of July is just around the corner, today we thought we'd share a little Americana wedding inspiration. Many of these ideas could easily be incorporated into your Fourth of July festivities this weekend as well!
These bouquets are perfect for an Americana theme. Reds, yellows and blues make for a great color palette, especially for outdoor, summer weddings. These bouquets include red and white daisies, yellow ranunculus and billie balls and dusty miller, creating a perfect vintage feel.

Here's a gorgeous red poppy bouquet. Even though only one type of flower is used here, they're so bright that they can stand alone and make a bold statement.

These invites were designed by one bride herself, a graphic designer. We love the different text styles and the simple red and white color scheme! The coordinating postcard R.S.V.P. is simple and nostalgic and great for an Americana theme.

Who doesn't love the idea of a pie bar! If you hate wedding cake, why not incorporate the quintessential American dessert instead? Plus, it's a fun way to give guests a variety of flavor options and can be very affordable alternative.

Another easy way to incorporate this theme is in details like textiles and papers. These red and white gingham-wrapped bottles would be perfect for an outdoor celebration and are the type of small touch that guests love.

Using gingham and burlap textiles fits well with the Americana look and can be done fairly inexpensively.
