Another Feature of DBI Events!

Hey guys - happy hump day! Friday is almost here :)

Just wanted to quickly mention that we were featured on Tales of Wedding Belle blog yesterday! Check it out here.

Katie is an awesome event designer and it just so happens that she's THE gal to contact if you're looking to host an event on a rooftop - she's the event coordinator at The Rockville Rooftop. Stop by her blog and say hi, especially if you're looking for a venue space!

Locally Grown - I'll take that

I can't believe it's Monday already!!!

This weekend was pretty much brilliant with a combination of friends, farms, and fashion and I'm sad to see it go. BUT I do have some great pictures to share with you all.

On Saturday I got an opportunity to head out to a local farm and learn about all the flowers they are growing. Since they are one of my new suppliers I had to check it out! I got to four-wheel it around the acres while learning about different local plants and flowers. Here are a few shots of their fields and flowers:

The view before you hit the fields

Snapdragons, zinnias, cosmos, statice, etc

Beautiful Amaranthus (or as they call them on the farm - dreadlocks)

I, of course, had to pick up a few buckets of flowers -how could I not?! They were so bright and fresh and wonderful (the flowers AND the owners lol). Since we were heading to a bbq that night I threw together a quick organic arrangement for the hostess. Voila:

Since opening our doors we always strive to be "green" - from the environmentally safe chemicals to donating leftover arrangements to local hospitals - and having found an amazing local grower just helps us achieve this even more. To all you environmentally conscious brides - we do offer packages including ALL locally grown flowers - just ask :)

Wishing everyone an amazing week ahead. Check back later when we show you how to put together that red, white, and blue colors for the Fourth of July without being tacky :)

Easy Breezy Country Chic

Today we're posting a bit late but this is worth the wait. We have a fabulous inspiration board for you - it screams easy breezy country chic. Is green the next IT wedding trend color? Are we saying goodbye to the purples and hello to the greens? This inspiration board sure makes you want to dream green.

Thank you to the French Bouquet for Inspiration!

Also, DBI is looking to staff an event next week in NYC (the 20th) - please send inquiries to info@dbievents.com

Happy New Year!

It's a new year and DBI Events can't be more excited. This year is already shaping up to be a busy one, full of fantastic opportunities. We have fun projects in the works and are super excited to be partnering up with some great vendors in the Metropolitan DC Area! Be on the lookout for styled shoots, private event shows, weddings, and lots of beautiful DIY goodies.

This past weekend I hosted a NYE dinner and of course had to decorate. I used white and silver tones to create a few festive bouquets to replace traditional centerpieces. These bouquets sat at an angle in different shaped glass vases - creating a fun yet informal atmosphere (and oh yea...those white Akito roses smelled out of this world!). Check out the images below!

We want to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and successful 2011. Can't wait to see what the new year has in store!

Updates, Updates, and a bit of Beauty

DBI Events has been a little slow on updating blogs in the past few weeks but that's because we've been working on some really exciting things!

First - if you haven't already check out our site www.dbievents.com

Secondly - we're moving to Washington DC! We've officially begun networking with other DC event professionals. If you know anyone in the MD/DC/VA area getting married or hosting an event please refer them to DBI Events.

Thirdly - DBI Events will be taking 3 weeks to travel the world. One of our destinations? The flower market in Bangkok!!! Many of you probably do not know that most of the flowers you see at the grocery store are imported from either Holland, South America, or Asia. Many of the beautiful and unique orchids are imported directly from Thailand and we are lucky enough to travel there to see the flowers for ourselves. Check out the images of the market below:

Unbelievable - the colors alone! Can't wait to post my own pictures and get inspirations for events to come! And even learn a few tricks from these knowledgeable vendors.

And lastly - I hope that by now all of you have checked out our "article" on www.districtbrideguide.com ! It's all about burlap and its many uses!

Thought for today: next time you go over to someone's house pick up a bouquet of flowers at your grocery store or street vendor. It's a nice and inexpensive gesture that makes everyone feel special :)
