Branch Out your Wall Decor

I was getting a little bored with what's currently on our walls so I decided to take on a small art project - and it is SO easy to do that I want to share with all of you.

Paintings and photos aren't the only things you can hang on your wall - how about hand painted plates? Vases? Or as we share with you today - manzanita branches. A very simple DIY project to spruce up any space in your home or office!

A few years back Manzanita branches became very popular as centerpiece decor. Many designers still use them for this purpose but today we'll be working these branches as wall art. For this project you'll need:

  • Manzanita Branches $6.99 at save-on-craft (we used two)
  • Spray Paint for Wood $5 at your local hardware store (the color is totally up to you - we used silver)
  • Wall Brackets $12.99 at Home Depot (pick out a bracket at Home Depot or Lowe's specific to your branches/liking)

The steps are SUPER simple:
1) Begin with figuring out where on the wall you'd like to hang the branches
2) Mount your brackets on the wall pre spray painting (I just like to get this step out of the way)
3) Find a well-ventilated area (preferably outside), place the branches on top of newspaper and spray paint.
4) Once the branches dry, flip them and spray paint again (this will insure that the entire branch is covered in paint)
5) Let them dry and then hang your branches!

That's it! Simple, inexpensive, and creates a one-of-a-kind art piece for your home. If you're extra lazy skip the spray painting and go for a natural look - all it'll take is mounting your branch on the wall.

And an fyi - something similar at West Elm runs $99. You just created your own for $25. Booya.

  1. I am getting ready for my new apartment and I absolutely love this idea. Anything that might stand out well on an exposed brick wall? Thanks!!

  2. I'd suggest white, aqua blue or a light shade of grey!
