Modern Elegance at the Flying Bridge

This year, we've seen a good amount of neutral color palettes, including the ever-so-pretty white&green combo. These colors are timeless, and fit any style (not to mention we LOVE it). In August, we providing logistics, decor, and flower assistance to a fellow wedding planner. This intimate wedding took place at the Flying Bridge and was captured by Daryl & Johanna Calfee:

Re-Introducing: DBI Owner - Liza

If you're reading this, you most likely know who I am - I'm Liza, owner of DBI. My love for design and events motivated me to start this company, and I cannot be more thankful for how far DBI has come. None of this could have been possible without the amazing DBI team or the incredible support from both the DC wedding industry and family+friends. We have some huge announcements coming in 2014 and hope that all of you stick around for the ride.

A HUGE thank you to Paired Images for capturing the silliness of DBI.

Wedding Wednesdays Intros

Hey there, Studio DBI fans!  I’m Stephanie, the Head Planner/Coordinator here at DBI.  I am super excited because, aside from my event coordinating and planning duties, I get to start make a weekly contribution to the Studio DBI blog.  All hail, Wedding Wednesdays! (insert trumpet sound here). With Wedding Wednesdays, I will touch on all things wedding . . . . . including, but not limited to: locations, design, and etiquette (oh, my!).  Be sure to check in every Wednesday for the latest and greatest in wedding ideas and info.

A little introduction about myself:  I’m a DC area transplant that hails from Dallas, TX.  In my spare time, I enjoy lying back with my husband and our bulldog out on the deck or up on the rooftop of a local restaurant. Rumor has it I’m oddly organized, and looking for any excuse to throw a great party.

I’ve been with Studio DBI for almost 1 year, and I l-o-v-e a fabulous wedding! I truly enjoy working with couples to make their wedding an unbelievably special event.  I think it’s great when couples bring their own uniquely fun ideas to the table, and eagerly accept the challenge to help their wedding vision come to fruition.  I’m thrilled to be adding to this blog, and look forward to many great things with Studio DBI.

Until next week,
Stephanie

Wedding Week Wrap-Up

As we wrap up Wedding Week, we'd like to leave you with a few tips that you won't necessarily find in your timeline.
Emergency Wedding Kit: As the saying goes - sh*t happens. Make sure you have the tools in place to solve any minor accidents - a sewing kit, a stain remover, headache medicine, mints, etc. No one has time to run to a CVS when they're getting their hair done.
Plan B: In the DC area, our weather is unpredictable. If you are having any portion of your celebration outside, make sure you have a backup plan. Whether it's a tent, an indoor space, or umbrellas - you need to have a plan in place so that no matter what happens on your wedding day, you will be able to enjoy it stress-free.
Rehearsal: Conduct a ceremony rehearsal the day before your wedding, so that on the day of the wedding you and your wedding party know where to go and what to do. A few simple walk-throughs of the ceremony will avoid awkward moments during the real deal.

Good luck with wedding planning and if you decide that you need professional assistance, our new head Planner/Coordinator Stephanie would be happy to sit down with you to discuss your needs. Shoot us an email at info [at] studiodbi [dot] com.

Have a Happy Friday!

What We Do

Want to get a little behind the scenes of what we do? Check out footage of J+S's wedding, created by Kings Production. We loved spending the day with these two amazing families. Keep an eye for our team running around with flowers, installing a chuppah, and getting our wedding party down the aisle. Congrats again you two!

L+J Get Married!

Back in June we had the absolute pleasure of being a part of L+J's National Harbor wedding. These two weathered the storm (literally) and tied the knot under a chuppah at the very end of the pier. Celebration followed at the Sunset Room, where the love between these two was beyond radiant. Thank you two so much for having DBI!

Springing Herbs at Woodend Sanctuary

We love working at Woodend Sanctuary and find ourselves over there quiet a bit. The natural surroundings with easy load-in makes this a fab venue, especially when we're providing flowers. Below is a wedding we did back in April - we focused on crisp greens, fresh whites, and minor pops of yellow. We incorporated seasonal herbs, rather than standard florist greens, to create a more unique look (not to mention the amazing scents!):
