Welcome back! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend - we here in the District finally got some sun without the crazy heat!!
Today we're talking dessert bars. We LOVE designing dessert bars - they are a perfect element for any party (weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc). If you're serving dessert why not display it in an interesting fashion? Dessert bars allow you to not only showcase your caterer's or pastry chef's talent, but it also adds an interesting element to the soiree. Dessert bars can look really great or really.....not so great. We caught an episode of Top Chef Just Desserts on Bravo the other night and the episode was a great example of what to do and what not to do when designing a display. As you can see below - the team on the left created a cluttered look, which in turn completely hid the desserts. The team on the right got it perfectly - one focal point (rose chandelier) and a pink linen to make the white plates of dessert pop.

And of the not-so-good one - you can see how the clutter takes your eyes away from the dessert. What a mess...
