One of the most gratifying things in life is throwing a successful surprise party. Here's your guide to ensure you surprise your guest of honor and show all the guests a good time:

1) Accomplice - this is KEY to a successful surprise party. Your accomplice will get your guest-of-honor to the party or help you set-up "fake" scenario to ensure your guest-of-honor gets surprised.
2) Date - make sure that the event is on a day of the week that will ensure everyone you'd like to attend can. Invite guests 2-3 weeks out so that everyone has time to plan for the event but also not enough time to spill the beans.
3) Venue - this is important for any event. Make sure your venue will be available for your date and will accommodate your guestlist.
4) Invites - when sending out invites make sure the SURPRISE PARTY is clearly visible. You don't want anyone to slip up and ruin it. Best way to avoid your guest-of-honor finding the invite? Invite everyone by phone.
5) Confirm - having the confirmed guestlist will not only let you know who's coming but will help you to properly prepare the right amount of food/drinks (whether catering yourself, hiring a cater, or hosting the event at a restaurant). Also confirm with your accomplice that they are all set for the big day.
6) Set Up - ensure proper food and beverage amounts
7) Party Time - make sure everyone is in place and have the accomplice text/call you when the guest-of-honor is approaching. Now all you have left is yell SURPRISE and enjoy the party.
Tips:
- Invite all your guests to arrive 45 minutes before the arrival of the guest-of-honor
- Bring a camera - surprise parties are great for photos
- Ask your guests to park a little ways away so that your guest of honor doesn't suspect anything (unless it's a restaurant of course)
