Hosting Brunch

One of my MOST favorite parties to host is a weekend brunch. Brunch is a unique event that's sole purchase is to relax, enjoy, and celebrate the weekend. If you're getting ready to host here are a few simple steps to ensure that not only are you the best host but that you also get a chance to relax.

1. Plan ahead! Although you might want to pull out a freshly baked loaf of bread when your guests walk through the door this might NOT be such a smart move. Bake everything the night before. If you're cooking dishes the morning of make sure to prep all your ingredients so that the morning of the brunch all you have to do is combine and cook. Also, it doesn't hurt to set the table the night before :)

2. Plan to serve your food family or buffet style. No one needs an individual serving of home fries.

3. Serve your drinks in pitchers. Mixing a bloody mary, mimosa, coffee, juice, or sangria for every guest while trying to cook pancakes will only result in burnt pancakes and spilled drinks.

4. Allow your guests to help. Brunch is usually informal so don't hesitate to accept the help. Even have some tasks ready to go when your guests arrive - whether it's brewing fresh coffee or chopping up some fruit.

The menu is very important so here are a few staples you don't want to forget:
  • Coffee!!! (or tea)
  • Frittata (or another egg dish)
  • Muffins (or another pastry)
  • Ingredients for a killer Bloody Mary
  • Fancy Deli Cuts (or meat of some sort)
  • A Cheese Spread
  • A Loaf of Delicious Bread
  • And of course - Fresh Fruit

I hope this helped and I'm off to entertain! Happy Sunday!
