Red, White, and Posh

As you're preparing for your 4th of July celebrations I thought it'd be a good idea to share some fun decorating tips for this Red, White, and Blue holiday.

It is very easy to go overboard with American Flags and paper garlands and make the whole backyard look beyond tacky. While I support our country and support flag decor you might want to consider other options.

Breakdown the colors - use white dishes on white table cloth with blue napkins and bright red roses as centerpieces. Using solids will allow you to give your set-up a sophisticated yet fun 4th of July vibe. If you're looking for that extra pop find a unique red, white, and blue print fabric and use it as a table runner. That will tie everything together, add a focal point, and will be a unique way to showcase this color scheme. (to the left is how Martha Stewart suggests to decorate for the 4th - notice the solids?)

Bring color out through fruit - it's the summer after all so why not incorporate all those berries that are in season. Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc all make great garnishes, decor, and dessert dishes. The bright natural colors of these berries will complement your decor perfectly and give it that extra red, white, and blue detailing. (images by hwtm.com)

Remember to provide adequate seating, meet and introduce your guests, and most of all enjoy your company and atmosphere!

Happy Independence Day!
